# Rename Connected Devices

## Change the Name of Connected Devices

By default, connected device names are randomly assigned and prefixed with '※'.\
You can rename them from the 'Connected Devices' list or device information.

By default, device names are randomly assigned, but you can [set a default device name using URL parameters](https://docs.timer-share.com/en/quick-start/advanced-settings-operation/use-url-parameters/set-name-of-device).

This is useful in scenarios like '[Events](https://docs.timer-share.com/en/use-cases/event)' or '[Webinars](https://docs.timer-share.com/en/use-cases/webinars),' where you may want to group participants.
